A Nightmare in Rotterdam returns to Rotterdam in 2023. Founder Paul Elstak and B2S join forces to revive the legendary Hardcore event, 30 years after its first edition at the Energiehal.

Paul Elstak and B2S come together to reawaken the acclaimed A Nightmare in Rotterdam event thirty years after its debut at Energiehal. In 1993, Mid-Town Records was granted a chance to host one of the earliest significant Hardcore events in Rotterdam and invited Paul Elstak to join forces with them for this project - thus leading forth into an unforgettable experience!

Inspired by the hit record of Paul Elstak's Holy Noise, 'The Nightmare,' which samples the movie classic, 'A Nightmare on Elm Street,' DJ Rob and Paul organized a rave in Parkzicht called 'A Nightmare at the Park.' They created an encore event to build off their success: "A Nightmare in Rotterdam." Thus Freddy Krueger and his iconic glove became a recurring feature of their new endeavor.

From 1993 to 1995, Nightmare rocked the Hardcore electronic scene with numerous editions within Energiehal. As bass from distorted 909s reverberated through the venue, thousands of gabbers shook the ground in response. International Hardcore DJs also started in the Netherlands at this legendary location!

Regrettably, the event ended when the venue renowned for its raucous vibe and thundering noise was destroyed. In 2004, A Nightmare in Rotterdam made a spectacular return and ran until 2012 at Rotterdam Ahoy. It showcased the up-and-coming Hardcore stars of that period while also paying homage to the original sound from years before.
